The water cycle is a concept that we usually start teaching in kindergarten or shortly thereafter. The idea continues to build on through middle school. This is a silly lab idea. You start a pan of water boiling, which creates water vapor. The vapor rises and comes in contact with a cold surface, just like a layer of cool air resting over the land. This causes the warm moist air to condense and form droplets. The droplets get heavy, the rain starts, you flip the rain on the kids, the kids scream and laugh, and somewhere in the process, learning takes place. Grades 1-3
