Conglomerate Stew & Clastic Collections PDF

This lab is an introduction to clastic sedimentary rocks, the kind that you see on all of those Wile E. Coyote cartoons. The kids will understand that these kinds of rocks are made of particles and the size of the particles determines the name of the rock. At the conclusion of the lab the students will be able to identify the appearance and location of clastic sedimentary and sediment deposits, explain the differences between, mudstone, siltstone, sandstone, and conglomerate and discuss their value in the production of building materials and in road construction.
