Potassium Permanganate Powder

Dark gray powder that produces a brilliant magenta color when dropped into water.  An oxidizer, it produces smoke and then a flame when combined with glycerine.  Great demo for chemical changes as you get light produced, heat released, an odor, and changes of color and state.  The full monty.
