Burnt Sugar Snakes PDF

Sugar is placed in a beaker with a dash of water, and then is dehydrated using concentrated sulfuric acid. This produces steam as well as indicators of a chemical change: change in color (white to black), increase in temperature, and a distinct unpleasant odor. Great for illustrating chemical and physical properties of matter, and the value of MSDS sheets. Grades 6-8
