Terrestrial Pie PDF

The main layers of the earth's interior are the crust, mantle, and core. To get an idea of the relationship of these three layers to one another, you will cut an apple in half. Proportionally, the skin is about as thick as the crust of the earth, the flesh of the apple is similar to the mantle, and the apple core is about the same size as the core of the earth. To reinforce this idea, you are going to measure and make the layers of the earth, to scale, on a 100 meter section of the playground. Grades 6-8
