Product Description
LL Demos & Labs: Rock Profile: Soapstone
Soapstone is a dark green color with a powdery white coating. It is very soft and can be scratched easily with your fingernail. This particular deposit is one of several in southern Montana. When the Rocky Mountains were built a vast inland sea was divided up into small pieces. These pieces became isolated, dried up and buried. Over time the heat and pressure of the overlying rock mooshed the salts into the soapstone you have today.
