Potassium Iodide Powder

A white, crystalline powder that is mixed with water and soap to produce a concentrated solution.  When this solution is added to a bottle with 30% hydrogen peroxide, the peroxide decomposes and releases large amounts of oxygen and heat.  Excellent demonstration of how color, heat, odor and state all indicate a chemical change.
