Modified Marble Races Materials

This lab teaches a lot of concepts: potential and kinetic energy, the effect of gravity on an object, and the effect of mass on stored potential and kinetic energy. The kids will roll 4 spheres that have the same diameter but decidedly different masses down a ramp. They will see that the speed of the sphere is a function of its mass.

Demo Pack includes:  large glass marble, steel marble, 0.5" wood sphere, 0.5" styrofoam ball, 30 cm ruler, 5 1.5" washers

Classroom Pack includes:  10 large glass marbles, 10 steel marbles, 10 0.5" wood spheres, 10 0.5" styrofoam balls, 10 30 cm rulers, 50 1.5" washers
