Candle Capers PDF

This lab uses a candle to teach the three states of matter. Light a votive candle, and the solid wax begins to melt. When you extinguish the flame, smoke (wax vapor) rises from the wick. When a lit match is introduced into the vapor stream, the vapor will ignite and jump down to the wick, relighting it as well. Solid, liquid, and gas wax in one cool, quick, easy demonstration.
